At the gym yesterday, I noticed the variety of people there. All different types of bodies. There always is. I love that about the gym we go to. As I continued to observe the people around me, I thought about how the people who keep showing up consistently get results. It isn’t the person that comes and lifts crazy weights every day for a week and never shows up again. It isn’t the person that comes once and is embarrassed and never comes back. It’s the faithful fighters that deny the comfort of their homes and keep coming out to the gym and showing up.
To get results, you can’t just show up and talk to your employees one time. You can’t come up with only one idea. You need to show up and be a faithful fighter each day. You don’t need to lift all the weights in the gym the first day. In fact, it’s likely that if you do that you’ll get hurt and burnt out. But, if you show up consistently and do what you reasonably can each time you’re there, you’ll see results.
But you won’t see them right away. It’s unlikely that one workout will make your abs show through. It’s unlikely that you’ll be able to run faster and further after one day. We need to be patient and faithful at the gym. We need to be patient and faithful in life and business.
And it seems like when you are patient and faithful - before you know it, you’ll recognize that you look different. You feel different. You’re fitter, stronger, healthier.
Your business and your life function the same way. You don’t want to juice up and potentially sacrifice your health. There is no shortcut that’s healthy. Deep down, we know this.
If you showed up today, if you are faithfully fighting, then you’re doing it. Today’s workout might be crappy, but it’s not the single workout that transform your body, it’s your faithful fight that does.
