I’m amazed at how reckless people drive.
It’s like they don’t recognize that they’re driving two tons of vehicle at a potentially deadly speed.
We wield a lot of power fairly recklessly on the road.
Some of us wield more weight than others. Some drive smart cars while some drive tractor trailers. A one-car accident with a smart car might shut down one lane at most, but if a tractor trailer has a truly horrific accident, it can shut down an entire highway. The more weight wielded, the potentially more disastrous the consequences.
We don’t just wield an immense amount of power on the road.
We wield an incredible amount of power in our lives.
We don’t always recognize how much we hold. We just fly through life recklessly, potentially scraping other cars in the process.
If we recognized the power we’re wielding, we would drive differently. We would drive more mindfully, with intentional care for others. We might let people go in front of us because we wouldn’t need to prove our power - we would already know we have it. Those with tractor trailers wouldn’t drive like they had a Mini Cooper, trying to cut through lanes at dangerous speeds. They would recognize the incredible weight they’re wielding.
You’re wielding a tractor trailer when you walk into a room. You bring immense power and culture into a room. You’re not just wielding a vehicle like everyone else, you’re also hauling a business that brings the culture you’ve created. You can drive through life recklessly, scraping others with your character and your business in the process. Or you can drive carefully, respecting others and serving them in the process. You wouldn’t feel the need to cut in front of others to prove your power, because you’d recognize how much power you already hold.
You are a tractor trailer on the road. Wield your power with intentional care today.
